Connection is Key
Connecting in business can take hold many meanings.
You connect to your message.
You connect to your employees.
You connect to your customers.
You connect your message to your customers.
You connect your employees to your customers.
A message has to be something that not only resonates with you and explains your mission but it also has to be a message which speaks to your customers. Sometimes it’s the same message but modified to a level of understanding. Your message that you hold for your business may be more technical on what you want to achieve. Whereas your message to your customer has to convey the technical side but on a passionate level that allows them to see and understand how it will be beneficial to them.
People that work for you, whether is be in sales, customer service or HR, will need a connection with you. As a business owner you need to have the ability to relate and communicate your ideas, your wishes and your procedures to your employees. Rewarding a job well down, treating them with appreciation – it’s all a part of the connection. Happy employees… make for a happy business.
Connecting your message is about being consistent across the board. Your social media should be using the same voice as your website. Your message should be the same on social media as it is in your store or on the phone. Pulling together your message and making it consist allows you to convey a consistent reminder to your customer with any disconnect.
All of these ways to connect bring your business together full circle. It gives a level of consistency and doesn’t allow for any confusion. Think of it this way, if you were advertising a pink striped hat available only in your store, yet when the customer arrived excited to find this exclusive hat, and they were shown a green hat with polka dots – there would be confusion. They would think they read the ad wrong or that they were in the wrong store. Regardless of how much they liked the green hat – there was an immediate disconnect and 80% of the time they will leave without the purchase.
Be consistent. Learn to connect. Communicate your message with passion.
